I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the songs repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men
And the bells ringin,
like a choir singin,
in my heart I hear them
Peace on Earth .. Good Will to men
And in despair I bowed my head:
"There is no peace on earth," I said,

For American poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the Christmas of 1863 was surrounded by overwhelming tragedy. The recently widowed Longfellow received word that his oldest son, Charles, had been wounded in the Battle of New Hope Church during the Civil War.
As war tore apart both his country and his family, Longfellow penned the timeless words, “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.” 150 years later, Longfellow’s poem still reminds us that, one day, “The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail, With peace on earth, good-will to men.”

‘Twas
Twas the Night of Our Saviors birth, and all throughout the world. The pathway to Salvation, was about to be unfurled.
The King of the World, was about to be born in a Stable. Those who believe will follow, the doubters think it a fable.
Prophets foretold of His coming, their hearts had been prepared. Others didn’t understand, they just stood there and stared.
Mary understood what was to happen, Joseph stood by as well. This birth was most special, their Son would one day conquer hell. Three Kings came from a distance, they had followed a bright star. Others met them there also, having come from afar.
Mary & Joseph didn’t have much, not much money or gold. They would raise their son simply, as he grew to be bold.
Jesus taught others of his Father, for just a few years. What He’d have to do someday, brought His mother to tears.
But He was born with a purpose, He had come here to die. He brought Mercy, Grace, & Salvation, the apple of His father’s eye.
As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, as we look back on that day. It is wise to remember, all the things He did say.
He told us to go into the world, and to spread the good news. To teach others about Him, that He came for the Jews,
But they would reject Him, they just couldn’t believe it was true. That He also came for everyone, including me and including you.
That Salvation isn’t free, that it comes with a cost. But as our Savior He paid it, no one needs to be lost.
All He asks is that we Trust Him, that we show it through love. That what we do unto others, is as if we do it to Him above.
He has gone on ahead, to prepare us a place. Receive Him today not by efforts, but by His Mercy & Grace.
May this be the Christmas, when we return to what matters. While we give gifts to many others, and we hear all the chatters.
The greatest gift ever given, came from Heaven above. Eternal Life is within reach, because of our Father God’s love.
So let’s love one another, let’s show that we care. We can share God’s love with others, the goal is heaven, and to see others there.

Till He appeared and the Spirit felt it's worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,

While angels sang to lowly shepherds.
Three wise men seeking truth, they traveled from afar.
Hoping to find the child from heaven.
And falling on their knees . . . they bow before the hum-ble Prince of Peace.
