She does not currently get full support from the Republican party, especially not from Michael Castle, whom she defeated in the primary elections. Michael Castle is still disgruntled about this and refuses to support her.

This is actually a pretty sad story and clearly shows that Michael Castle is the wrong person for Senator, even though he had that post for 40 years. Not supporting the winner is considered not fair play to say the least. A politician who only has his own best interest in mind does not belong in a Senator’s chair.

Meet Christine O’Donnell, Republican challenger for the Delaware seat in the Senate currently held by Vice-Presidential candidate, Joe Biden. Read her biography and see photos and a video of her below.

Christine O’Donnell is a conservative commentator and is challenging incumbent Joe Biden for the Delaware seat in the Senate that he has held since 1972. Ms. O’Donnell is happy for Biden that he has been selected at Barack Obama’s running mate. The problem is that if the Obama Biden ticket is elected in November, the people of Delaware will be denied the opportunity to choose their own representative in the Senate.

O’Donnell is urging Biden to give up his bid for re-election so that his replacement in the Senate won’t be left up to appointment by the Governor of Delaware but rather by the election of the people. Delaware’s Governor Ruth Ann Minner is at the end of her second term as governor, so its unclear as to whether she will be making the decision should Biden’s position in the Senate become vacant or if the decision will be left up to her as yet unknown successor. That fact takes the decision even further out of the hands of the people.

I’m not sure what the problem is. News reports earlier today were reporting that Biden was planning on retiring his seat at the Senate anyway. Unless, of course, that was just to further his credibility with the retired constituency. I’m sure he’ll want to do what’s best for the people of Delaware as opposed to holding on to his seat with the chance that he’ll leave it vacant, given them no vote in who will represent them in the Senate.

Christine O’Donnell is 39-years-old, single and Catholic. Her hometown is Wilmington, Delaware. She graduated from Moorestown High School in Moorestown, New Jersey in 1987. In 1991, she graduated with a from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey with a degree in English and Communications. She resides in the Little Italy area of Wilmington, Delaware. In 2002, she was awarded an Abraham Lincoln Graduate Fellowship in Constitutional Government from the Claremont Institute in Claremont, California.

O’Donnell is a political commentator and marketing consultant. She appears regularly on Fox News Channel, CNN, C-SPAN, FNC’s O’Reilly Factor, Hannity & Colmes, MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, Entertainment Tonight, ABC’s Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher and many others. She has been providing daily political commentary on the 2008 Presidential primaries on CNN’s Glenn Beck, FNC’s Fox and Friends, The O’Reilly Factor and others. She also is often a guest on radio talk shows as a guest host on WGMD in Rehoboth Beach and WDEL in Wilmington.

She has traveled to Jordan as a journalist. She has lobbied in Washington D.C. and the U.N. on behalf of pro-family global practices and her trip to Jordan instilled in her a deep commitment to the women’s movement. In the early 1990s, Christine worked with the Republican National Committee. She is a member of the Delaware Press Association and served on the Board of Directors for Birthright of Delaware until May 2008.

She works as a freelance marketing and media consultant. She provided consultation services with Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ and Natalia Tsarkova, the Vatican’s first female portrait painter. She has also provided consultation services to non-profit organizations such as the World Education and Development Fund, a charity that provides scholarships to children in poor communities throughout Latin America.
