The MLK "Dream" will never be realized as long as we have the Liberal / Progressive leadership we have in government and the church today. MLK's vision for America was based on his Judeo-Christian perspective and HOPE for America - not on redistribution of wealth, separation of Church and state, and Affirmative Action. Compare, for example, the words of MLK with "Christian Leaders" of today:
"Do I think Christianity should have special status in our nation? Absolutely not." Marv Knox, Editor, The Baptist Standard
"People who embrace this system of belief call themselves 'conservative Christians'. But when I try to exegete their faith, it presents itself as a mix of rigid-right politics, American Exceptionalism and a kind of cultural Christianity that’s at least as much about middle-class suburban U.S. culture as it is about Christ." Marv Knox, Editor, The Baptist Standard
“I think that the general ideology of the Tea party is not a Christian one,” said David Gushee, professor of Christian ethics at Mercer University and co-founder of the New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good, a faith-based nonprofit. LINK
"The person who commented on my Tebow blog thinks I’m a liberal because I don’t agree with him, as if his positions are the bona fide, handed-down-directly–from-Jesus truth." Marv Knox, Editor, The Baptist Standard
"Those behind the billboards refer to the separation of church and state as a “lie” and say our country’s Judeo-Christian foundation is the reason that this country has prospered for 200-plus years. The only lies being told are featured on the billboards." Brent Walker
"Yes, we still grieve the deaths of 9/11. Yes, we wish the Manhattan Muslims would exercise restraint and exhibit compassion by moving their mosque farther away from Ground Zero. But we dare not participate in denying their right to build their mosque. If we tolerantly undermine religious liberty, who will stand up for churches when Christians no longer comprise a majority in America?" Marv Knox LINK
"First, Christians who agree with Hume should not be debating whether Hume had the right to say what he did (it's a free country, after all) or whether the people who have criticized him are fair to Christianity (some are; some aren't). Instead, the discussion should be about whether Hume's approach was the best way either to answer the plaguing problem of infidelity or to spread the gospel. The answers are no and no." Marv Knox, Editor, The Baptist Standard
"So, if you believe what Jesus said as recorded in Matthew 25:31-46 and then take Beck at his word, you've got to conclude Beck is the opposite of an evangelist. He's shooing his followers straight to hell." Marv Knox, Editor, The Baptist Standard
In fact, todays Liberal - Progressive Christian leaders are "shooing Americans to HELL ON EARTH" with their views of "Religious Freedom," "Separation of Church and state," abortion, gay marriage, and support of Communist / Athiest / Marxist / Socialist regimes around the world with American dollars, jobs, and economic support and help for their own failed systems, ie. China, which will then use our support of them to destraoy us. Much in the same way that Islam's demand of our Constitutional Freedom of Religion, while they neither believe in "Freedom of Religion" nor our Constitution, as they attempt to conquer the world.
James Robert Sisson and when you point this out to liberal democrats they choke on it.
Linda Santucci Ameritianity--excellent statements shared, written by many others.
James Robert Sisson However, linda, i would trust a christian conservative to grant me true liberty under the constitution over any other group, the right to choose whether to believe or not is ingrained in basic conservative christian theology.
Moe wrote: "He died trying to help a people who are making his hard work and reason a futile effort. Very sad. You can lead a horse to water."
Laura wrote: "King seems like a very conflicted person to me. Yes, he was a Republican who believed in small government (he knew government wasn't the answer, which is polar opposite to what many black Americans believe today), but he was black in a turbulent time and believed in distribution of wealth and consorted with communists."
