DISCUSSIONS

The Editor of a Liberal Christian Publication recently defined "Conservative Christian:"

"People who embrace this system of belief call themselves 'conservative Christians'. But when I try to
exegete their faith, it presents itself as a mix of rigid-right politics, American exceptionalism and a kind of
cultural Christianity that’s at least as much about middle-class suburban U.S. culture as it is about Christ."

We disagree! Perhaps a "Grass Roots" revival is needed in the Church today too.

Which brings up an interesting topic. "What does God want us to do?"

Does God want us to (a) "watch" Him bring His children into the fold? Or does He want to (b) bless us by allowing us to participate in the building of His Church and the gathering of his people? If it is (a) then we may as well shut down all the churches and turn off Christian TV and Radio.

Does God (a) treat all nations equally or does He (b) bless nations in which His people who are "called by His name humble themselves and pray..."? If it is (a) then can we take God at his word?

If we see that those who claim to be Christians "mirror" society in many ways, is it because (a) we as the Church have focused on trying to get people to behave like we think they should or (b) we have failed to realize that God takes a sinner "just as he is", and for those who are willing to "surrender all", His Holy Spirit living in them will change them from within in His way and His timing. Is it both?

We believe that it is God who led to the founding of the USA. It doesn't matter who He used to do it. It doesn't matter if they did it out of greed or compassion. It doesn't matter if the founders really knew what "inalienable rights" were. It doesn't matter if they had the same understanding of God as we do.

Those who seem to diminish the greatness of the USA may do so because they believe it was founded and built solely by the hands of mortal and often sinful men. Those of us who see our nation as a blessing from God among nations see a responsibility to be good Stewards of God's blessings. Much in the same way that we could say that if God wanted to save the 40,000,000 babies aborted in the USA, he would have saved them, we know that God calls us to do His will, that He disciplines His children when they don't.

The implication that those of us who feel led and called to encourage citizens who are indeed blessed to live in the USA, to also be good stewards of that which God has blessed us and seek "public servants" who are honest and truthful and seek to serve and not to dictate and control, are "worshiping" the nation, our governmental system, our economic system, or our culture, is just like saying christians worship their wives, their children, their specific church, doctors who use their God given talents to save lives, etc. We seek God's will ... we don't seek to control it. We are "participants."

Galatians 3:26-27 (KJV) says,
"For you are all children
of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For as  many of you as have

 Christ have put on Christ."

We often hear people say
"We are all God's children."
But, are we?

Islam and the American Constitution, our Heritage, our Foundation, our
Culture, our Economic System, our view of Freedom, can never co-exist
.

Once again we need to take our Lord and Savior at HIS Word when HE said: "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters" (Luke 11:23).

True Islam must be recognized for what it actually is. Islam is a combination of Religion and Government. Islam is exactly the opposite of everything that has gone into the founding of the USA. This will be very hard to accept especially by Christians who do not see God and Jesus Christ as the foundation of the USA.

While Christian leaders point to II Chronicles 7:14 (“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land“) and Matthew 5:13-16 (“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? ... You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid... Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”), as certainly being scriptural, many of the same leaders don’t understand that we should be preserving the very blessings from God that we pray for.

Practicing Islam does not recognize “Inalienable Rights.” It does not recognize “Separation of Powers.” It does not recognize “Salvation by Grace.” It does not “Hold these Truths to be self evident.“ While Christian missionaries are sent into the world to do the work of the “Great Commission” of telling individuals about the opportunity to “Freely Choose to follow Jesus Christ as Savior,” Islam sends out “missionaries” to force the masses into submission to Islam or be killed as “Infidels.”

Nowhere in scripture are we as Christians instructed to bring the enemy into our camp. Quite the contrary, we are told to “GO into the world,” to be a “Beacon and a Light,” to pray that OUR land may be HEALED in order to continue to be a source of that which Christianity stands for. We must be diligent in preserving the blessing of being the “City on the Hill,” the “salt and Light.” There is nothing honorable in being self-destructive.

We often misinterpret even our own “Freedom of Religion.” At the time of the founding of our nation, Islam and other world religions were not even an issue. The issue was of divisions of Christianity and nations having specific Christian Denominations as State Religions. How could Islam have even been considered as a equal participant when we have a Constitution “Of, By, and For The People” while Islam has their own “Sharia Law/Legal System?”

We are not called to be fools and we are not called to be self-destructive.
